"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us..."

Sitara Sylvia Maldonado... Live a joyful and fulfilling life! Approach

Sitara has developed a unique healing approach she calls Back to Self in which she uses her intuitive skills and an eclectic mix of tools to support individuals and groups to connect us to our natural state of being which is loving, joyful and peaceful.

Whether in her role as a healing practitioner, teacher, leader, coach, facilitator or guide, her intention is always to create a sacred safe place where people can be present with whatever they are experiencing in the moment while holding an intention of what they want to accomplish. In the process they identify negative emotions, thoughts, beliefs, behaviors and/or other blockages that are keeping them from manifesting their intention. Bringing into consciousness these blockages is the first step in the healing journey towards living a joyful and fulfilling life.

Some of the tools and techniques she uses are:

Kripalu Yoga

The purpose of yoga is to create harmony between our body, mind and spirit. Kripalu yoga, in particular, is a proven way to bring us back to that wholeness. Kripalu yoga is a "yoga of compassion" that encourages self-acceptance and learning to love and nurture our body.

Kripalu Yoga On the Mat
Kripalu Yoga is a complete system of yoga with emphasis on Pranayama (breath), Asana (postures), Meditation and relaxation. Many people practice yoga on the mat in an attempt to feel better physically, emotionally and mentally. The practice of postures offers relief for physical ailments. Breathing exercises and relaxation provide tools to manage emotional stress. Meditation creates a moment of peace, a break from the mind-chatter (negative thinking, worries and mental stress around work, family and daily life). For many, the practice of yoga helps them connect with something higher than themselves.

Yes, it is true that Kripalu Yoga on the mat is a very healthy practice that creates more balance in all areas of our lives. This practice helps to release tension, stretch and strengthen, improve flexibility, increase self-awareness and works to awaken and develop Prana (our life force energy) that is the link between body, mind and spirit. The effects of this practice can be experienced as increased energy, calm mental clarity and focus, greater vitality and feeling more fully alive.

Kripalu Yoga Off the Mat
As we deepen our practice, we become aware that yoga has much more to offer us than we may first realize. Kripalu yoga can also be used as a tool of self-discovery. It facilitates psychological growth and empowers us to apply the principles of yoga off the mat in daily life. This helps to remove obstacles that inhibit growth. Yoga is a lifestyle that, when incorporated into our daily lives, can transform us and bring us closer to our natural state of being, which is loving, joyful, and peaceful.

Chanting

Sound has been used as a healing tool for thousands of years because of it's capacity to alter our consciousness at a vibrational level.

Almost all spiritual traditions and religions have some form of chanting to connect to soul or spirit. Most of the chants Sitara uses are from the Hindu tradition. The origins of hindu chanting can be traced back to India sometime between the X-XIV centuries. It is more ancient than hatha yoga (the practice of postures and breathing exercises.) The chants are sung in Sanskrit, which is said to be the oldest language and the one that is most in harmony with the vibrations of the universe. Hindu chants are usually made of mantras. A mantra is a syllable or series of syllables that help calm and focus the mind and activate our latent spiritual energies. Most mantras used refer to some name or aspect of God/Divine Being/Supreme Being or any other name you have for that higher spiritual energy.

Chanting is considered a practice of bhakti yoga (yoga of devotion) and nada yoga (yoga of sound.) Bhakti yoga activates our energy center at the heart chakra helping us to feel more love and compassion towards ourselves and others. Nada yoga opens our throat chakra helping us to communicate better with others and to speak our truth.

In addition to Hindu chants, she has been incorporating chants from other traditions, such as the Native American, Jewish and Christian traditions and in other languages such as English, Spanish and Hebrew.

Chanting is Sitara’s favorite spiritual practice, one that brings out her inner joy and gives her a great sense of well being. It has been a powerful source of profound personal healing at the physical, emotional and mental levels. This practice has also been a gateway to some of the most profound connections she has ever experienced with her inner self.

Here are some of those benefits, which you can also experience:

  • Chanting is an excellent breathing exercise that increases lung capacity and improves the functioning of the respiratory system.
  • It stimulates the chakra of the heart which opens us to feel more love toward ourselves and others.
  • It also stimulates the throat chakra which promotes clear communication with others and in speaking your truth.
  • The repetitive nature of the chants are a form of meditation that calms the mind.
  • Chanting is an effective and fun way to process and release negative thoughts and emotions, including sadness and grief.

Rapid Eye Technology (RET)

Sitara is the only Master Rapid Eye Technician and teacher in Toronto.

What is Rapid Eye Technology?

Rapid Eye Technology (RET ) i s o ne of the most effective therapies in use today to help deal with any type of emotional condition, from daily stress to trauma. It is a safe and powerful method of accessing and helping release deep hidden negative thoughts and emotions, no matter what the cause. It facilitates the release of thoughts and emotions hidden within the unconscious mind thereby allowing us to deal with the cause, not just the symptoms.

RET is based on scientific principles and psychological models of how the brain functions and how the mind processes and handles emotions. It is acknowledged and used by mental health professionals with great success. Increasing numbers of people are using parts of the RET model in their private practice in the U.S. and other parts of the world. It has been used with thousands of clients to heal deep emotional conditions such as fobias, depression and traumas, including post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and even physical conditions.

How it Works

RET accesses the subconscious mind through the simulation, in a conscious state, of what is scientifically known as REM (rapid eye movement ) . REM occurs naturally during certain stages of sleep. Scientific studies have demonstrated that during REM sleep the brain and the mind process and integrate our daily life experiences, many of which are expressed in dreams. RET bypasses the brain's defense mechanisms, including unconscious denial, that keep us stuck in the same patterns and prevent us from getting to the root origin of the problem. These unconscious blocks can prevent us from flowing freely and living fully with grace.

General Information about the RET sessions

There are processes focusing on the birth, all child stages, on every human emotion, and on specific physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual issues.

A program of 6-12 sessions covers the most important processes. There are enough processes for dozens of sessions.

Part of the RET model is learning new Life Skills so you don't recreate the same patterns that created the problem in the first place. For that purpose, there is a LS Workshop you are encouraged to work on and LS coaching and classes.

RET is traditionally done one-on-one, in private sessions . Sitara has been developing a way to do groups sessions through workshops and retreats with great success.

You can get more details about the RET model at: www.rapideyetechnology.com .

Life Skills

The purpose of LS coaching/education is to help us become aware of the power we have within ourselves to change and direct the circumstances of our lives and to take the necessary steps to make positive changes.

Learning and implementing new life skills is a process of identifying old, nonproductive habits and beliefs and reframing and restructuring them into more positive, successful ones.

It’s the knowledgeable application of natural laws and principles, which govern human development.

By understanding these principles we are able to move into alignment with the natural harmony and rhythm of the universe to create a higher quality of life.

Mastering these laws can forever change the course of our life experience.

These principles are:

  • Thought
  • Perception
  • Cause & Effect
  • Choice & Accountability
  • Abundance & Gratitude
  • Health & Healing
  • Harmony & Rhythm
